Academic Alliance Senior Manager

Major responsibilities

  • Search and evaluate research publications from China academic institutions and clinical centers as AZ’s potential collaborators
  • Drive discussion and communication with scholars in areas of interest
  • Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders of AstraZeneca’s alliance partners in China to expand and strengthen the collaborations
  • Collaborate with China BD, CICC and iCampus on innovation (asset, tech) search and evaluation
  • As a member of Strategy Team in R&D China, work with team members to develop and implement integrated strategy for key partnerships and collaborations in China.
  • Work with Global External R&D team to develop and implement integrated strategy for key partnerships and collaborations in Asia
  • Operationalize the governance of new partnerships including conflict resolutions mechanisms, and expectations on communication practices between AstraZeneca and partners
  • Responding to external inquiries and identifying the right internal stakeholders to address questions
  • Collaborate enterprise-wide with other functional areas
  • Run external engagement events including scientific exchanges
  • Prepare and deliver external presentations; work with internal project and portfolio teams to gather presentation
  • Improve internal network for efficient alliance management
  • Actively participate in creating community of partnership excellence and  in activities that embed partnering best practices across the company

Minimum Requirements and Preferred Background

  • Research PhD degree in Biology or Medical Science with >5 years’ experience in pharmaceutical industry
  • Knowledge of research and development strategy and process
  • Comprehensive network with academic scholars and clinical experts
  • Project management experience and capability, proven experience in alliance/ partnership excellence; experience building, maintaining and closing partnerships
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally based on business needs
  • Willingness to work in a global team environment across multiple time zones
  • Fluent in spoken and written English

  • Demonstrated capability and experience to work in a multi-cultural environment

  • Ability to assess issues/risks and effectively implement remediation measurements
  • Well-developed cultural sensitivity to influence the beliefs, opinions and behaviours of key customers
